Batawa Martial Arts Club

Sensei Bob Caldwell

The Children's Program at the Batawa Martial Arts Club includes street proofing children, how to handle adult attacks and how to escape these attacks from cars or isolated areas or the street, as well as teaching them how to deal with bullies either on the playground or on the street. I promote positive attitude in the dojo with drills on using your voice as a weapon and positive eye contact. In other words, look mean at somebody who intends to be a bully or harm you.
I promote discipline in the dojo so that individual goals can be met. I teach children to hold their head high and be proud of who they are. I teach children that teasing is wrong and nobody should be treated like a doormat. I also teach children that drugs are wrong and harmfull.
The Martial Art Program follows the traditional belt system: white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown adn black belt. Respect is also maintained in the dojo at all times.
Our dojo is affiliated with the Snow Tiger Martial Arts Association, the Kai-Shin Karate Association and the Canadian Jiu Jitsu Council of Canada.
I have been teaching and training for the past 31 years and have belts in Judo, Karate and Tai Kwon Do. In my dojo I teach Chito-Ryu Karate. I have been training in Chito-Ryu Karate and Canadian Jiu Jitsu for the past 6 years. I have also been studying Kung-Fu and pressure point techniques. I have a black-belt in Wado-Ryu Karate.
